2:43:36 my take for the meaning of villain is that it is the villain that came from within. the self doubt, the depression, this imposter syndrome that holds you back from being happy and shine. the lyrics are actually on the nose about it too, like 'i know there are a field of flowers waiting for me, but it just seems to get farther' or 'should i mess this up? i don't deserve this' and 'people who loves me as i am will leave me too anyway'. i cried watching the mv, it really captures the frustration to get out of that mean thoughts about yourself, like the lyrics 'people who shines tells me to shine as well'. and then finally finding that acceptance, let the world breathe, and that things are going to be okay. from the recent interview, the album is meant to be an acknowledgement to these struggles and hardships. their past songs are mostly uplifting & encouraging, but this time they want to say that it's okay to not be okay or encouraged, it's fine, and take your time. i love them so much if you can't tell 😢

Yeah finally loona one of the most perfect groups for this type of deep dive, I hope you can watch bsides and not only titles 😜

I've seen so many people overthink the lyrics of this song. Because they know it's Valorant they stick those two together and then decide that's as much as the lyrics could ever mean. We should look at it objectively. If no one knew what Valorant was and had no clue that this song was connected to a game at all, would this song still stand on it's own? Personally, I think it would. This could easily work for the nba finals or any competitive sport for that matter. It could even be a motivating song to play at the gym. I definitely think this track has enough to stand it's own as a great XG song without condemning it to the game it was made for. It's just a hype, motivating song about being confident.

Ah. My second favorite K-pop group! It took me FOREVER to actually get into their music simply because it was probably the most intimidating group to try and approach

The 180-degree ending was indeed part of “The Realist”. It transitions into their other side track called “The Dreamer” (featured on their “City of ONF” album) - they’re practically polar opposites in the atmosphere and lyrics and you can listen to the two songs in a loop (“The Dreamer” also has a switch-up in its ending that transitions into “The Realist”). On the topic of lyrics, I highly recommend checking out ONF’s lyrics for all of their songs! You can feel the care their songwriters have put into them, even their more “nonsensical” ones like “Sukhumvit Swimming” (one of my favorite title tracks of theirs btw sxksjzj). They have a lot of songs about different topics and mostly self-development, but their “ONF:My Name” and “City of ONF” albums (first full album and its repackaged album) were full of them. Both dropped during the pandemic period and it brought a lot of comfort to those who listened to them. Wyatt has such a beautiful singing voice. You can hear him singing more in their ballads. Wyatt may also not be the most “flashy” rapper out there, but you can tell how skilled he is in terms of musicality when you listen to all of his parts in ONF’s songs. They experiment a lot of different sounds and he’s really good at adapting his flow to each song’s tone.

The Realist song was released on album My name, and on repackeged album with Ugly dance, song The Dreamer is placed. These songs are reflecting each other, this song is fun but in the end it changes into the realist tempo. :)

Yesss I don’t think anyone said it yet but Hwang Hyun is highly regarded among the Fuse fandom because he’s basically the backbone of ONF’s music. He helped a lot in shaping ONF’s music as he knows the members since 2016, and also has practically full creative control on their discography (WM doesn’t really tell him what to do, he just produces whatever he wants and the company either approves it or not). The members themselves call him Hwangbeoji (translating to Hwang father) as they’re pretty close and during their military hiatus he also spent time with their maknae (who’s Japanese) + went to watch some of the performances they were allowed to do as part of their military service. Absolutely all of their songs are produced by him and/or Monotree producers, which is why their discography is so consistent yet constantly evolving! Also, ONF always have at least 1 ballad per album. “Moscow Moscow” was the ballad for the “Go Live” album. Fun fact: when Hwang Hyun had to send the tracklist for the album to the company, he wished he could add one more song. When he heard that ONF were filming in Russia for their MV, he named the last song “Moscow Moscow” without even having written it lol. In the end it took him a week to compose/write it, then he sent the guide to the members while they were still filming overseas and they recorded it on their return.

Understanding that the album is a mosaic of songs and somehow still missing that the album is a whole story from front to back which is why the title track had callbacks to most of the other songs is a huge oversight. Its amazing that you can still enjoy it on a track by track basis but for me personally want really took it above and beyond was the little details like the lyric callbacks or the fact compendium is a suite of melodies from all the choruses wrapped into one song.
